Who am I?

I’ve spent the past decade working in both technology (first as the founder of a small company and later as a founder of the product team at Stripe) and politics (first as a founder of Justice Democrats, then as the campaign manager and chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez).

I’ve been lucky to have been able to witness to some large disruptive forces firsthand, and I’ve learned a lot from that about how technology and power work. I’ve also spent a lot of time reading history — especially the history of places and times that are like ours right now — and I worry about the default course America seems to be on. But I AM an optimist, and I believe in determining our own destiny, so that’s what I spend my time trying to do.

I believe the best way to understand things is to get into the weeds to learn. I’m going to use this space to learn out loud. I hope you, the reader, learns something as well — but mostly, I hope you teach me something on my journey.
